Britney Spears Opens Up About "Disheartening and Degrading" Life Under Conservatorship

It is incredibly difficult to hear the terms of Britney Spears' conservatorship.

After opening up about all the freedoms she was denied in hearings over the past few months, Spears is now opening up about how her life has changed now that she is finally free.

"I was in conservatorship for 13 years," she said in a new Instagram video. She said, "I was able to have my car keys, I was able to be independent, I was able to feel like a woman, I was able to have an ATM card, I saw cash for the first time, I was able to buy candles. These are little things for us women, but they make a huge difference.

Spears also spoke of being able to give a voice to those in similar situations, and of her gratitude to all her fans who helped hasten her release from conservatorship. 'I hope my story will have an impact and bring change to a corrupt system. 'And the #FreeBritney movement, you guys honestly rock. Thanks to you and your awareness of what's going on and how you've been sharing that news with the public for so long: ...... Thanks to you guys, I honestly believe you saved my life"

.

In her caption, Spears explained: "I know how embarrassing it is to share the fact that I never saw the cash or could not drive my car ... ... But honestly, it still amazes my mind every waking day how my family and the conservator were able to do what they did to me ... ... It was disheartening and despicable ! I am not even mentioning all the bad things they did to me . They should all go to jail ...... Yes, including my church-going mother!"

The star has been brave enough to speak out about what her family has put her through over the past few months and continues to inspire us all with her strength and poise. We can only hope that the next chapter of her life is filled with joy and peace.
