Blake Lively Calls Out Ryan Reynolds for Announcing Film Production Hiatus
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds won't stop making fun of each other anytime soon. (Opens in new tab), Reynolds posted on Instagram (opens in new tab) that he was taking a bit of a break from filmmaking, and his wife immediately hit him with "Michael Caine did it first."
The context here is that Caine appeared to have announced his retirement in an interview, but his comments were misinterpreted, and according to Variety (opens in new tab), he is in fact still very active. According to the actor's tweet (opens in new tab), "I am not retired and not many people know that."
Along with a photo of Reynolds on the set of Spirited Away, particularly with Will Ferrell, Reynolds wrote, "This is the end of the filming of Spirited Away, even three years ago I don't know if I was ready to say yes to such a challenging film. [Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a lot of dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great @octaviaspencer...
"It's the perfect time to take a little sabbatical from filmmaking. I don't want to waste a second working with this ridiculously talented group of creators and artists.
"These days, kindness is as important as talent. I've been lucky enough to work with people who have both."
Other well-known commentators were only slightly more supportive than Reynolds' wife. For example, Octavia Spencer (open in new tab) said, "You are a wonderful actor, singer, and producer. It was a pleasure working with you, Will, and this wonderful cast and crew! Enjoy your downtime."
But hey, who better to tell it like it is than the people who love you the most?
