Prince Charles does not give Harry a residence at Clarence House

There is a lot of drama going on in the royal family, but so far the tussle between Harry and his father has never seemed to have any long-term consequences. It has always seemed that if one side offered an olive branch, all might be forgiven. But if this report is true, we may not be able to let bygones be bygones as much as we might hope: According to an article in the Express (opens in new tab), Prince Charles is gifting Prince Harry and Princess Meghan Markle Clarence House, a vast royal estate Denying the pair their residence would be a pretty big blow to the reconciliation plan.

Clarence House is a royal residence in London that was used by Prince Charles after the Queen Mother died, and Prince Charles had "set his sights" on it for Harry and Meghan after he became king. It was formerly the Queen Mother's royal residence, and before that, Queen Elizabeth herself lived there before her coronation. It was also home to Prince William (who resided there from 2003 to 2011, and also held his engagement meeting with Kate here) and Prince Harry (whose residence period overlaps with that of his brother). In short, this is a family home with a lot of history and a place deep in Harry and Meghan's hearts.

But apparently the family drama is too tense. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's move to the United States has taken the property off the table as far as Prince Charles is concerned, according to sources cited by the Express. Instead, it may be left vacant (though open to visitors) until Prince William and Kate want it for their children. 'It is more likely to be saved for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. (Don't forget that George is the oldest son and is only 8 years old.
