Katie Couric recalls meeting Prince Harry in 2012

Journalists see a lot of things that celebrities seem to want to forget. But in Katie Couric's new memoir, Going There (opens in new tab), which will be released later this month, she is apparently willing to go there. Specifically, she reportedly recalls meeting Prince Harry for an interview in 2012, when she was in the midst of what she calls a "wild wheat sowing period."

Kulik is a veteran journalist of nearly 40 years. Her new memoir contains unreserved gossip about Martha Stewart, Diane Sawyer, and the Today Show co-hosts. But it is the snippet about her encounter with wild Prince Harry that has caught people's attention. According to [Newsweek] magazine (opens in new tab), the interview took place at a polo match in Brazil in 2012 and was later broadcast for a special program celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Their chat was full of sweet moments, especially when Harry talked about his close relationship with his grandmother and his "longing" to one day have children of his own (remember, this was at least four years before he met Meghan Markle).

But according to the Daily Mail (opens in new tab), Kulik noted that the prince was clearly in a partying phase. The magazine quotes her as saying that the smell of cigarettes and alcohol seemed to "ooze from every pore of his body."

According to Newsweek, Harry, in his Apple TV documentary "The Me You Can't See," recalled the chaotic period of his late 20s. He recalls.
