Kate Middleton happily holds a tarantula named Charlotte.

To say the least, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a tumultuous trip to Northern Ireland. Kate Middleton (opens in new tab) wore the most fabulous purple suit and navy pumps to visit the University of Ulster in Derry/Londonderry with her husband (who also wore a suit, nothing else new) to meet the students. [Of course, it's a tarantula with the same name as my daughter (opens in a new tab). But where I wouldn't have run a mile, Middleton didn't flinch an inch, holding the animal in the palm of her hand with a big smile on her face. She is not only a duchess, she is also a hero. Her husband, on the other hand, smiled through gritted teeth and walked safely one step behind her. Sharing a photo of the moment on Twitter (opens in new tab), they wrote, "Charlotte of Tarantula is a surprise guest."

Prince William was not completely intimidated as he got to handle the snake. Indeed, he did not appear to tame the reptile, but he did not faint either. A small victory should be celebrated.

During the college tour, Middleton enjoyed a half pint of Guinness.

Posting photos from their visit on Instagram (opens in new tab), the Cambridges wrote, "Lovely to see @UlsterUni students reunited on campus." [It's exciting to see how young people are promoting inclusivity after the pandemic in Northern Ireland.

"@UlsterUni continues to train a new generation of healthcare professionals, including new medical school doctors.

During their stay in Delhi/Londonderry, the couple also played rugby and soccer (opens in new tab).
