Meghan Markle Visits New York in Gorgeous Wedding Earrings

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visited New York City last week, where they went from visiting the One World Trade Center Observatory to filming scenes for upcoming projects for Netflix and Spotify (opens in new tab), and finally the Global Citizen Festival to share an important message (opens in new tab) about sending vaccines from rich countries to developing countries.

But sharp-eyed royal watchers noticed that Princess Meghan wore a pair of earrings that looked a little familiar when she visited the Observatory with New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Kathy Hochul: on her wedding day in Windsor in May 2018. They were the exact same gorgeous diamond stud earrings she wore! [Meghan looked very chic and very New York in a navy turtleneck and coat combination.

The earrings are said to be worth $16,500 (open in new tab), and this is not the first time she has worn them out and about outside of her wedding: according to People (open in new tab), she also wore them a month before her wedding, in April 2018. Worn at the Invictus Games:

Harry & Meghan ended their busy trip to New York City with a stop at the aforementioned Global Citizen, but their message on vaccine equity is an important one. They said, "Every single person on this planet has a fundamental right to this vaccine. That's important, but it's not happening," Megan told the crowd at Global Citizen. Many countries are ready to manufacture the vaccine in their own countries, but are not allowed to do so because the super-rich pharmaceutical companies do not share the recipe for producing the vaccine. These countries have the means, the capacity, and the workers to manufacture. All they are waiting for is for the intellectual property rights to the vaccines to be relinquished and the vaccine technology to be transferred. By the way, many of these vaccines are publicly funded. It is the vaccines that you paid for."

An important message indeed. I hope to see more of Harry and Meghan visiting various parts of the country in the future to spread awareness of big issues like climate change and vaccine equity (and to look great while doing so).
