Kim Kardashian's Met Gala Ponytail Cost $10,000, Hair Stylist Reveals
Kim Kardashian isn't exactly known for sparing no pennies, but one of her latest splurges still made my jaw drop so low it almost came off my face.
We've all seen the Met Gala look (open in new tab) where Kardashian transformed into an all-black silhouette courtesy of Balenciaga (open in new tab); ICYMI, here's Kendall Jenner (open in new tab) her devil, er, I mean her sister Meaning:
I'm sure that outfit wasn't cheap, but it's the price of the ponytail that really raises eyebrows. Kim Kardashian's hairstylist, Chris Appleton (opens in new tab), recently answered a heated question from a follower on Instagram Stories (via Cosmopolitan UK (opens in new tab)): "How much did that 75-inch pony cost? " Appleton simply replied, "$10,000."
I mean, it makes sense that a hairstyle that requires a dedicated assistant wouldn't cost $10, but still.
It is also worth remembering, as Cosmo UK pointed out, that this is the price of the extensions themselves, not how much it would have cost to put them on Kardashian herself.
As a TV personality and businesswoman, it is clear that she can afford to go so far for an event like this: she became a millionaire (opens in new tab) earlier this year, which is a big deal for her two brands, KKW Beauty (opens in new tab) and Skims (opens in new tab).
For the latter, she recently made the genius business decision to hire Megan Fox (opens in new tab) and Kourtney Kardashian (opens in new tab) as her latest underwear models (opens in new tab). I can see how it will pay off, TBH.
