Willie Garson of "Sex and the City" Dies at 57
Actor Willie Garson, who enjoyed a cult following for his roles as Stanford Blatch in "Sex and the City" (open in new tab) and Mozzie in "White Collar," has died at the age of 57.
Garson's son, Narsen, paid tribute to his father on Instagram (opens in new tab), sharing intimate photos and videos of his life. 'I love you, Dad,' he said. 'And I'm so glad you got to share your adventures with me and accomplish so much. I'm so proud of you, Dad. I will always love you. But I think it's time for you to go on an adventure. You are always with me. I love you more than you know. You were always tough, funny, and smart. I am glad you shared your love with me. I will never forget it and I will never lose it."
Actress Selma Blair (opens in new tab) said, "He was worth loving. His only everything is to know that you're okay. It's more than okay. Our children are the ones we give all our love to. Our last conversation. I wish I never had that last conversation with Willie. I miss him so much.
Garson adopted Narsen, now 20, in 2009. In an interview in 2020 (opens in a new tab) he said, "I'm so sorry I had to adopt Narsen. Not only did I give him a childhood, but "guess what?" I also got him another child.
Garson's "SATC" co-star Cynthia Nixon (opens in new tab) paid tribute to Garson on Twitter (opens in new tab), writing, "So deeply, deeply saddened to lose @WillieGarson. We all loved him and loved working with him. On screen and in real life, he was endlessly entertaining. He was a source of light, friendship and show business legend. He was always the consummate professional."
Candace Bushnell, author of "SATC," said (opens in new tab), "Rest in peace #WillieGarson Stanford Blatch was so dear to me and Willie brought him to life so beautifully. A gift to us all."

Garson's cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but actor Chad Lowe tweeted "F - Cancer" when asked about it (open in new tab).
Paying tribute to Garson, Lowe said, "He was very talented, committed to social justice, and loved by many. But most of all, he was a great and devoted father. He will be sorely missed."
