Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly "focused on work" to avoid drama.

While 2021 dominated headlines with reports of rifts between Prince Harry and Prince William and Meghan Markle and Duchess Kate, one royal expert says we should expect the tone to change in 2022, at least where Will and Kate are concerned.

Speaking to Us Magazine, royal expert Nick Bullen speculated that next year's platinum jubilee, which marks the Queen's 70th year as monarch, is the biggest concern for Will and Kate right now, and they will do their best to avoid any drama. Buren told the magazine (opens in new tab):

"I think for the next 12 months the Cambridges will focus on supporting the queen. The headlines next year should be about the Queen turning 70. So I think Kate and William will really step up to support the Queen over the next 12 months."

This may be because the infighting between the royal siblings is so painful for all members of the royal family that William and Kate have chosen to dive into their work rather than focus on such a private issue in public. 'I think the depth of the grief and division between the two brothers is incredibly deep and incredibly raw. [And while Prince William and Duchess Kate will have to devote more time to charity work next year, doing so will make for far fewer headlines for royal watchers to pore over in 2022. As in recent months, the royal family has been relatively quiet, or as Buren put it, "The royal family is busy, but we are quiet."

So expect the couple to dodge the spotlight and talk about the queen next year.
