Lord, in a new interview, says he is not "pop star material."
Lorde is back, and the singer-songwriter, who released her third album, Solar Power, in August, is on the cover of Vogue magazine (opens in new tab). In an intimate interview, Lorde (opens in new tab) reveals why she leaves large gaps between albums, and why they need to be blank.
"I'm a very sensitive person," she says, which should surprise no one who listens closely to her lyrics. 'I'm not cut out to be a pop star. I find public presence really intense, and it's something I'm not good at. I don't have any natural charisma. My brain is in a bottle"
.
Although she intends to be a "pop star" for a while, Lorde (open in new tab) couldn't stand that it was her whole life. "But for whatever reason, when people see me come and shoot, do the red carpet, talk to journalists, present music, and do it to the point of complete exhaustion, when I've quenched that thirst completely, I'm going to go home. [The other thing is that I will always attend birthdays and dinner parties, I will always cook meals, I will always go for walks, I will always take a bath. And when I'm done with that, and I think, okay, that's enough for a while, I'll come back," she continues.
So in addition to being a near-mythical artist with a legion of devoted fans, Lord is also a great friend.
