Zendaya's latest outfit was too hard on her fans.
Zendaya has had a devoted following for years, but her latest look may have cemented her status as an icon for the ages. Attending a special screening of her film "Dune" in Paris, Zendaya (opens in new tab) begged for mercy from onlookers in a pair of oxblood separates by Azdin Alaia (opens in new tab).
The top was a long-sleeved, high-necked crop top that looked like it needed yards of tape to secure it; Z playfully secured it:
The bottom was a skirt that tapered from waist to knee, at which point a luxurious feather train flared out.
Stylist Lo Roach posted the star's catwalk to an Instagram reel (opens in new tab) as she headed to a special screening, and dozens of blue-collar users collectively lost their minds. Stylist Brett Alan Nelson said, "I wanted this dress. Now I know why I couldn't get it. Model Didi Stone said, "No, this is too much for me. Wow." Lily Aldridge (open in new tab), Sasha Exeter, and Samira Nasr came out strong with a series of exclamation emojis.
At a special screening, Zendaya was joined by co-stars Timothée Chalamet (opens in new tab) and Rebecca Ferguson, and director Denis Villeneuve; the four also struck a rather spectacular pose in front of the Eiffel Tower, where they were joined by a group of young women who were also in the audience. It would be hard to say that these were not effective publicity stunts.
The sci-fi "Dune" (open in new tab), adapted from Frank Herbert's novel of the same name, opens October 22; Rotten Tomatoes (open in new tab) is not so far behind, but the cast may be enough to make it a chart-topping blockbuster.
