Kate Middleton and Prince William want to leave London's "chaos," sources say

Kate Middleton and Prince William are reportedly "considering" (open in new tab) a home in Windsor, where the Queen is currently based, and are very "eager" to leave London, according to one royal expert.

"Neither William nor Kate were Londoners, nor did they enjoy the chaos of the city," Katie Nicole told OK! (open in new tab).

"My home at Kensington Palace is very secure, but I often felt overlooked and that I had no privacy. The older the children got, the more apparent this became."

"The more we were able to get to know each other, the more we felt that we had a home that was safe and secure.

The Cambridges now divide their time between Kensington Palace in London, where the Duke and Duchess work and their children attend (opens in new tab), and Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where they spent this past winter in England for the third time in a lockdown (opens in new tab). However, according to Nicole, this arrangement is no longer the most practical for them.

"They love being in Ammer, but they need a base closer to the capital so they can easily return for official business and events," she says.

"Windsor would be an ideal location. I think Windsor is an ideal situation. The castle is huge in its own right and is currently the Queen's permanent residence, but there are other housing options. Everything is on the table and there is room for discussion."

Getting the children to school has also proved quite difficult recently in the busyness of London, another reason why moving to Windsor would make the family's life easier.

"Both William and Kate are very active in getting them to and from school," Nicole says. 'They try to do it themselves every morning and afternoon if they can. It may seem like a short drive, but they both realize that traffic is a big factor. Sometimes it can take an hour to get the kids to school.
