Kate Middleton and Prince William enjoy "special time with the Queen" at Balmoral.
Royal life is super busy, but not without time for family. Kate Middleton, Prince William and their children George (opens in new tab), Charlotte (opens in new tab), and Louis (opens in new tab) just spent a week reuniting with relatives in Scotland.
"William and Kate and the kids are enjoying family time in Scotland and have just spent some special time with the Queen," a source told royal expert Katie Nicole for Vanity Fair (opens in new tab). 'They always enjoy going to Balmoral. They love the outdoors, walking in the hills and spending quality time with their families. It is where William spent much of his childhood and it is important to him that his children experience what he did as a boy"
.
A second source (this one a family friend) added that this last long weekend of the year has become an annual tradition for the royal family. The unnamed source said, "The Bank Holiday weekend is the last family gathering before Christmas, and it has become a tradition in recent years that everyone is invited." In the past, it has turned into a big sleepover, with many of the queen's grandchildren and great-grandchildren in attendance. Her Majesty the Queen enjoys it very much."
I can't imagine the queen getting into too many pillow fights, but it's lovely for the little ones to spend time with their great-grandmother.
While in Scotland, the Cambridges (open in new tab) reportedly also enjoyed time with Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles.
The Duke and Duchess are also reportedly looking for a more permanent change of scenery and are said to be considering a move from London to Windsor (opens in new tab).
