Britney Spears continues to both delight and hopelessly embarrass her fans on Instagram. In her latest post (opens in new tab), she quotes her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and sticks him in a photo that has nothing to do with him. Spears must have found the photo of the woman cuddling with a giant gray and white cat on the Internet.

She wrote in that post, "As JT says: ...... The haters say it's fake!" she captioned it! I mean ...... Wow, I have no idea: ...... What do you guys think? I've always liked little kittens: ...... Big cats are very smart, but they always kind of scare me !!!!!!"

Of course, it would be wise to take this quote verbatim. That is, it is a good representation of an unusually large animal that was very likely Photoshopped. Fans who were not willing to take this post at face value quickly jumped to conclusions. Singer Max Tejera wrote (opens in new tab), "I just confirmed a collaboration with JT." One fan commented, "OK, I'm off the JT wagon, but if you guys collaborate, I'll be right back." My personal favorite is this wonderfully awful pun from another commenter: "Meow Britney for free!" . I really can't believe it.

Spears is still fighting a long legal battle to get her father (opens in new tab) removed from her conservatorship and to end her conservatorship (opens in new tab) arrangement altogether. Famous friends, including Justin Timberlake (open in new tab) (with whom she was in a relationship from 1999 to 2002 (open in new tab)), have professed their support for her.

In a series of tweets beginning June 24, Timberlake wrote, "After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time. No matter how good or bad the past or how long ago ...... What is happening to her is not right. No woman should be limited in her decisions about her body."

He added, "No one should be held against their will ...... No one should ever have to ask permission to access everything they have worked so hard for. Jess and I send our love and absolute support to Britney during this time. We hope the court and her family can make this right and allow her to live the way she wants to live."
