Kate Middleton had to silence a zookeeper who tried to get Prince George to pet a marsupial
Parenting requires setting boundaries, even when you are raising the future King of England. Kate Middleton and Prince William (opens in new tab) skillfully demonstrated this in 2014 when they took their oldest son, Prince George (opens in new tab), on a royal tour of Australia.
During the trip, the Cambridge family (opens in new tab) stopped at Sydney's Taronga Zoo, where they met a bilby (small marsupial) named George. When the zookeeper encouraged Will and Kate (open in new tab) to let their George touch George at the zoo, however, Kate had to drag her feet.
According to the Mirror (opens in new tab), Kate politely declined the zookeeper's offer, explaining that George (then about 10 months old) "has a pretty strong grip."
William apparently supported Kate, saying that "if he ever got his hands on it, he would never let it go."
Even if he couldn't pet his marsupial friend, George had a wonderful time at the Taronga Zoo.
