Sunni Lee "thrilled" to begin college life at Auburn University

Olympic gymnast Sunisa "Suni" Lee arrived at Auburn University in Alabama last week and will begin classes on August 16 (open in new tab). The athlete will swap Team USA gear and compete with the Auburn Tigers as a freshman.

Lee posted a photo (opens in new tab) taken on campus on Instagram. According to Auburn's official website (opens in new tab), she captioned the post "war eagle." Clearly, the gymnast is already feeling a sense of school pride. Always supportive (opens in new tab), Simone Biles said, "Wahoooooo!!!!" She commented.

According to the Auburn Tigers website (opens in new tab), Lee said, "Rest is the priority right now. I came here and wanted to rest my body and give myself a break mentally. I want to focus on myself and get ready for the season. I have a really good team with me. I'm excited about everything that's going to happen."

She added, "It's amazing how supportive and welcoming everyone here is of me being here. I know it sounds crazy to have an Olympic gold medalist here, but everyone here is so nice and the atmosphere is so different from what I expected, so I'm excited."

According to USA Today columnist Nancy Armour (opens in new tab), Lee previously said she would take her Olympic medals (gold, silver, and bronze) to college. 'I don't want to lose them,' she said. I don't want to lose them. I'll probably take my World Championships medals, too. Well, that makes sense.
