It seems like only yesterday (because at the time of writing, it actually was yesterday) that new hope was sweeping the Internet: Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer (opens in new tab) may be dating, sources boldly claimed in Closer magazine (opens in new tab). (opens in new tab). But all our dreams of a real-life Ross and Rachel were shattered when Schwimmer flatly denied the allegations. Speaking to the British tabloid The Sun (opens in new tab), a representative for the actor said there is "no truth" to Closer's claims.

"After the reunion, reminiscing about the past stirred up emotions between the two and it became clear that the chemistry that had always been buried was still there," an anonymous source previously told Closer.

"They began texting soon after the shoot, and just last month David flew from his home in New York to see Jen in LA.

The source continued, "They spend time at Jen's house, where she cooks dinner in the evenings and they enjoy quality time together chatting and laughing. It was clear that there was a lot of chemistry between them, as they were seen walking through Jen's favorite vineyard in Santa Barbara, drinking wine and engaging in conversation," he continued.

This painted a beautiful picture of the supposed romance between the Friends (open in new tab) co-stars, but alas, in the end, it was too good to be true.

Some fans held out hope that the actors would get together after the Friends reunion (open in new tab) aired on HBO Max in May. During the show, Schwimmer admitted that he and Aniston actually liked each other at various points during filming, but nothing like that ever happened.

"In the first season, I had a huge crush on Jen," Schwimmer said. But because one of us was always in a relationship, it was like two ships going back and forth [at night]." We never crossed that boundary.

Meanwhile, Aniston, who has yet to comment on the rumors, wished Justin Theroux a happy birthday via his Instagram story, quickly giving him "101 ways to stay friends with your ex. Take what you can get.
