Fans think Britney Spears' story about being locked in a bathroom is a metaphor

Britney Spears' Instagram has been full of mysterious content (open in new tab) over the past few years, often leading fans to speculate about what is really going on behind the scenes. In one of her latest posts, the star told a rather grim story of finding herself locked in a bathroom in the middle of the night, and commenters quickly drew the conclusion that the story was an obvious "metaphor" for Spears' ongoing conservatorship battle (open in new tab) They called it.

"At 2 a.m. I decide to take a bath," Spears wrote under a photo of a slightly open door. I went to the bathroom, saw the coffee I had left from earlier in the morning and said "gross" but didn't throw it away! I kept looking for it for about 15 minutes, thinking it was probably in the other bathroom... I tried to leave, but the door was locked... I thought it was a bathroom and I could open it... No! I can't get the lock open!!!!!!!"

She says she tried to get help from her boyfriend, Sam Asgari, but he was fast asleep and didn't hear her until the fourth try. Then, after Asgari tried to open the door, she had to ask a security guard for help, but Spears explains that she was locked in the bathroom for a while until someone released her.

This is where the caption begins to require reading between the lines. "I thought I'd clean the bathroom and take a shower or something, but then I saw it ...... The door is ......." Spears writes. At this point, security told Spears they would be out in 10 minutes.

"There was some old coffee there that I hadn't had in the morning,"

Spears said. I got my energy back and started talking again!" Spears writes. 'Are you guys there? Back up so I can open the door!' I was told. The door opened: ...... It finally opened!!!!!!!"

The commenters on this post were completely convinced that Spears was sending out a message about her conservatorship and her feelings that the end may be in sight. 'A metaphor for the door finally being unlocked? Go Queen X!" one user wrote. Another user said, "She has a PhD in metaphors."

Miley Cyrus also wrote, "They Free'd Britney for real!" and Asgari commented, "You left out a part of me kicking the door down and saving you."

Spears is still living under strict conservatorship, but recently moved forward (opens in new tab) to remove her father (opens in new tab) from conservatorship and end that arrangement entirely.
