Simone Biles delighted with Mykayla Skinner's silver medal win

Gymnastics may not be the most important thing in Simone Biles' life, but supporting her friends is definitely up there. She was in the front row of the stands when her American teammate Mykayla Skinner competed in the vault final at the Tokyo Olympics and brought home a long-sought silver medal. [According to POPSUGAR (opens in new tab), Biles, who withdrew from the competition (opens in new tab) a few days ago to protect her mental health, was cheering on Skinner in what would be her last performance before retirement. Biles was smiling and jumping for joy next to teammates Jordan Childs and Grace McCallum.

When Skinner learned that she would be competing in the vault finals, she tweeted a shout-out to Biles (open in new tab) and said, "Looks like I get to wear my competition leo one more time. Can't wait to compete in the vault finals. You're doing it for us @Simone_Biles It's go time baby!"

And the mutual support and sweet friendship between the two athletes doesn't stop there; according to NPR (opens in new tab), upon receiving his silver medal, Skinner said, "I dedicate this medal to Simone. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be here today. I said I would take this medal for her. She said, 'Do it for yourself, not for me,' so technically it's for all of us."

As for Biles, she has yet to have the last word on the Olympic season. She and Suni Lee will compete in the balance beam finals on August 3, USA Gymnastics confirmed on Twitter (opens in new tab). Here we go
