Prince William and Kate Middleton "nervous" about Prince George's future, royal source says
Prince William and Kate Middleton (opens in new tab) are concerned parents, especially when it comes to their oldest son, Prince George (opens in new tab).
According to a report in Us Weekly (opens in new tab), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (opens in new tab) are very aware of how different the world their children are growing up in is from the one they grew up in, and what it means to them to navigate life as part of the royal family They are keenly aware of how it changes them.
"Of course, William and Kate are nervous about George's future. 'He grew up in a different time than his parents did. Times have changed since then. When William and Kate were kids, there was no social media or Internet trolls."
Sources say that as a result of these concerns, Will and Kate (open in new tab) have made a conscious effort to protect their children's privacy by adjusting their parenting style and limiting their public appearances.
"The Cambridges feel it is necessary to keep George, Charlotte, and Louis out of the spotlight and are cautious about [their] appearances," the source added.
"Kate and William are more selective about the events he attends."
Another royal source recently described Will and Kate's "modern" approach to royal parenting (opens in new tab) and their emphasis on giving their children, especially future King George (opens in new tab), a normal childhood.
"In school, he is not called Prince George, but simply George, and mixes with children his own age," the source said of George, the third in line to the throne." Kate and William don't shower him with expensive gifts or pamper him too much ...... George makes his bed every morning: ...... The children all have impeccable manners and always say please and thank you."[13
