Simone Biles posts her GOAT emoji on Twitter
Heading into the Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles is already the most medal-winning gymnast in history with an astounding 25 World Championship medals (19 of them gold), four Olympic gold medals, one bronze medal, and a record seven overall wins at the US Championships! She is unquestionably the most decorated gymnast of all time. She is, without a doubt, the greatest athlete of all time, and Twitter's new emoji is fitting.
Earlier this week, Twitter unveiled #SimoneBiles or the emoji that accompanies #Simone: a goat doing a split-leap, a red leotard, and a gold medal. Her own emoji is truly GOAT worthy!
In 2019, Biles instantly debuted an iconic leotard addition: a goat-shaped rhinestone logo, Goldie. Goldie made two more appearances at the 2021 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, where Biles won for a record seventh time. She later spoke to Marie Claire (opens in new tab) about the brilliant inspiration behind the leotard.
"The idea was to fight back against the haters. I felt like it wasn't necessarily fair that they could keep saying whatever they wanted and it wasn't fair if I said something," Biles explained. [The haters] were joking, 'If she puts a goat on Leo, absolutely, it's a goat, it's a goat, it's a goat.' So they got very angry. And I said, 'Oh, this is a great idea. Let's make the haters hate us and the fans love us. And that's exactly what we did, and that's why we did it."
[8"I just hope that the kids who grow up watching this are not ashamed or embarrassed to be good at whatever they do," she continued. 'And that's my problem, too. And everyone can tell you that you're good, but once you admit it, it's not cool anymore. I want my kids to learn that it's okay to admit that you are superior or great. In Biles' case, he is the greatest athlete ever in something.
