Prince George looks grown-up in his 8th birthday portrait.

On Wednesday, the Royal Family released a new official portrait of Prince George in honor of the eighth birthday of Kate Middleton and Prince William's oldest son. The couple captioned their Instagram post, "He turns 8 tomorrow." Like many of the portraits released to mark the Cambridge children's birthdays, the photo was taken by George's mother, Kate Middleton.

In the photo, George is wearing a striped polo shirt and smiling at the camera while sitting in what appears to be a Land Rover.

The last time we saw George was at the Euro 2020 final, where little soccer fans were happy (when England scored!) ) and looked miserable (when England lost). George reportedly "begged" his father, Prince William, to bring him to the final. Kate and William have mentioned in the past that George is a big soccer fan, and according to William, George used to play the Three Lions soccer anthem (opens in new tab) every morning for a while.

Royal experts have reported that George will dress more formally now that he is eight years old; he will wear shorts until his eighth birthday, but George, like his father Prince William, is likely to follow royal tradition and wear long pants (open with new tab) It appears that George, like his father Prince William, will be wearing long pants (open with new tabs) in keeping with royal tradition.

Is it just me, or will George look more like William as he gets older?
