Spice Girls Celebrate 25th Anniversary of "Wannabe" with Previously Unreleased Songs
Thursday marked the 25th anniversary of the release of the Spice Girls' debut single "Wannabe". To celebrate, the Spice Girls released a new EP, Wannabe 25. The EP features three versions of the iconic single, as well as the previously unreleased song "Feed Your Love." The song is the first new release by the Spice Girls since "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)," which appeared on their 2007 Greatest Hits album. This is a very momentous day for Spice fans!
Melanie Brown (Mel B), Melanie Chisholm (Mel C), Emma Bunton, and Jeri Halliwell shared Instagram posts in honor of Wannabe's 25th anniversary, and Victoria Beckham posted on her Instagram Story. But Mel B's post was the most exciting: "Oh, finally guys! It's been a very, very emotional day, but we will be back, that's my "scary" promise to you all," she wrote. Does this mean a Spice Girls reunion is imminent?
"'Wannabe' 25 years. Wow. The song that changed the lives of five British girls," Halliwell said at the beginning of her post. She shared a photo of a gold ring with the Spice Girls engraved on it and added, "When we first got together, I bought each of the girls a gold ring as a symbol of our friendship. It's a special bond that will stand the test of time. I am proud of all that we have accomplished together.
"With the help of our amazing fans, this song has catapulted us on our incredible journey. Much love and thanks to you all today, the amazing Matt and Biff, and my beloved Spice Girls," Mel C wrote. 'So many memories! The Strongroom, St. Pancras, those stairs! And backflips all over the world!" She also hinted at a possible Spice Girls reunion, writing, "Happy Birthday wannabes! I can't wait until we Zig a zig ahh again!"
.Meanwhile, Banton paid tribute to "the best girl squad ever" in her post." I feel so emotional, what an amazing 25 years," she wrote.
"Thank you to all of our amazing fans who have made the dreams of five girls come true, loved the songs we wrote, imitated our dance moves, and embraced our personalities!"Hello! reports (opens in new tab), Beckham shared a throwback snap of the band on his Instagram Story." I can't believe it's been 25 years since 'Wannabe' was released! The song that changed everything..." What will we be listening to the rest of this month.
