Prince Harry reportedly to return to UK in September - Meghan Markle may join him
Prince Harry (open in new tab) is reportedly planning to return to the UK this fall and may be accompanied by his wife Meghan Markle (open in new tab).
Harry made a hasty return across the pond to California this weekend to attend the unveiling of a new statue at Kensington Palace in London in memory of his late mother, Princess Diana (opens in new tab). The unveiling, which took place on Princess Diana's 60th birthday, had to be scaled back from the royal family's original plans due to COVID-19 restrictions.
According to the Daily Mail (opens in new tab), "Kensington Palace has ambitions for another major event to be held in September, which could welcome project donors and charity leaders." The paper reports that "it is hoped Harry will attend with his wife, Princess Meghan," but sources close to the royal family admit that the date may be too soon for Meghan to travel after the birth of the couple's second child, Lilibet Diana (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab (opens in new tab).
Royal sources say that the September event may be the right time for "peace talks" between Harry and his brother Prince William (opens in new tab), who reportedly has not had much time to repair their relationship during the Duke of Sussex's (opens in new tab) most recent visit They are hoping that this will be the case.
"It's a step forward, but this was not the time or place," a source told The Sun (opens in new tab).
"There is a much larger celebration of the statue planned for September, and Harry will want to come back."
