Prince William and Prince Harry Take First "Baby Steps" Toward Resolving Their Difficulty, Experts Say

Prince William and Prince Harry's feud (opens in new tab) may be coming to an end.

After Will and Harry jointly attended the unveiling of a new statue at Kensington Palace in London in honor of their late mother, Princess Diana (opens in new tab), leading royal experts shared their views on the current state of the brothers' infamous tension.

In a special Facebook Live edition of True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat (opens in new tab), royal commentator and author Katie Nicole (opens in new tab), royal historian and biographer Robert Lacey (opens in new tab), royal biographer and Ingrid Sward, editor of Majesty magazine (opens in new tab), offered their views on how coming together for this event affected Harry and William's relationship.

Highlights of the royal experts' discussion include the following (from the Mirror (opens in new tab)):

"The simple fact is, I think Diana would have been shocked that the brothers had fallen out. She would have hated it. She told her sons, 'Whatever you do, stick together,' and they didn't. But they didn't. ' But today, I think the statue symbolizes the glue that will begin to heal. It will take more than this to heal the rift, but the process of getting back together needs a starting point."

"What better starting point could there be?" said Lacey, author of Battle of the Brothers (open in new tab), "They are there to honor and reflect on their mother and what she represents" (aka the definitive royal on Will and Harry's rift A Biography). Harry] is glad to be back in England and in his own home with his family." I think we can read positive vibes from what we just saw. Of course, it won't be a complete settlement, but I think it's the first baby step toward some sort of new arrangement in the future."

"They were very, very eager to keep control of the matter because they couldn't let someone else steal the thunder from their mother and the statue. If things did get awkward, they never wanted to let us know."

"I don't think this is the time to try to reconcile. I don't think now is the time to try to reconcile. I think it's very difficult to suddenly say, 'Yes, let's reconcile,' when you haven't spoken to a family member in a while. Especially among the royal family, it's sort of unspoken. They are not very good at this kind of conversation."

"There's no way the Queen would have a statue of Diana, and there's no way Charles would have a statue of Diana. It's the new Spencer generation taking over." There is no sign of the Windsor family.
