Jennifer Aniston Explains Why Fans Fell in Love with Ross and Rachel

Ross Geller and Rachel Green's "Will-They-Won't-They" relationship has kept viewers engaged for a decade, and Jennifer Aniston has a theory as to why. She explained in a recent interview with Today (opens in new tab), "I think there was something about unrequited love and being really invested in that [relationship]."

Aniston and David Schwimmer's on- and off-screen chemistry likely played a role as well. 'I think David and I loved each other-we still love each other. We still love each other." So I think there was something to do with that," Aniston added.

In case you missed it, Aniston and Schwimmer admitted during the "Friends" reunion (open in new tab) that they shared a mutual infatuation in the past, but the timing was never quite right. Said Schwimmer, "It was like two ships passing by, because one of us was always in the relationship, and we never crossed that boundary, you know, and we respected that." [Aniston recalled, "Honestly, I remember one time I said to David, 'I would be very disappointed if the first time you and I kissed was on national television.' And indeed it was: Ross and Rachel's first kiss was Schwimmer and Aniston's. Said Aniston, "We just put all of our admiration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel."
