Demi Lovato "feels better than ever" after coming out as non-binary

Demi Lovato co-hosted YouTube Pride 2021 Friday and reflected on her experience coming out to fans as non-binary last month. Lovato revealed that she shared her gender identity with family and friends last year, and in May she made the public announcement on social media and on her podcast, 4D With Demi Lovato.

"I actually came out to loved ones and friends last year, but I went public this year," Lovato said, according to Us Weekly (opens in new tab). Lovato said."

"I've been very open and honest with my fans about my truth. I felt like it wasn't right to hold it in any longer, and I wanted to share it with the world. "People are so ...... No, most of them were very wonderful people.

"I am so thankful that my family, team members, and friends used my pronouns. 'I love the conversations it started and I think that's really important. So I have officially changed my pronouns to they/them.

In a post on Instagram last month, Lovato wrote, "Every day we wake up and are given another opportunity and chance to be who we want to be. I have grown up in front of all of you for most of my life: ...... I have seen the good, the bad, and everything in between. My life has been a journey not only for myself, but also for those on the other side of the camera."

"Today is a very happy day to share more of my life with you all - I am proud to acknowledge that I am non-binary and to let you know that I will officially change my pronouns to they/them from now on," they continued. 'This is after much healing and self-reflective work. I am still learning and coming into my own.

"Sharing this with you all opens up another level of vulnerability for me. I am doing this for those who are not sharing their true selves with their loved ones," Lovato concluded. 'Keep living in your truth. And know that I am sending you much love.
