Justin Timberlake spoke out on Twitter Wednesday in support of his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears after she asked a judge to end her 13-year conservatorship by her father Jamie Spears at a remote hearing. Spears told Judge Brenda Penny that the conservatorship was "abusive," adding (opens in new tab) that she was "angry, sleepless, and depressed."

In a devastating speech, Spears said she wanted to get married and have another child, but the conservator prevented her from having her IUD removed. 'This conservator is doing me harm. 'I am tired of feeling alone. I deserve the same rights and I deserve to have children and do those things." Spears also said she was forced to take the mood stabilizer lithium and was once forcibly admitted to a rehab facility after an argument with her father

In a series of tweets Wednesday night, Timberlake wrote, "After what we saw today, we should all be rooting for Britney at this time. It doesn't matter how long ago it happened, good or bad past, ...... What is happening to her is just not right. No woman should be limited in her decisions about her body."

"No one should be held against their will or ...... should not have to ask permission to access everything they have worked so hard for," he continued. Timberlake referred to his wife Jessica Biel, saying, "Jess and I send our love and absolute support to Britney at this time. We hope the court and her family can make this right and let her live the life she wants to live."

As reported by People (opens in new tab), Timberlake publicly apologized to both Spears and Janet Jackson in February after the release of the New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears ( (opens in new tab).
