Meghan Markle wrote a book about freckles in eighth grade.

Sussex fans, the best part of the day awaits you. You may have heard about Meghan Markle's lovely children's book "The Bench" (opens in new tab), which shot to the top of the New York Times bestseller list (opens in new tab) last week, just one week after its publication. But her earlier work, A Face without Freckles... Is a Night Without Stars..." Is a Night Without Stars...? The future Duchess of Sussex wrote this sweet ode to freckles when she was only in eighth grade, and it is in the Library of Congress!

Library of Congress Librarian Carla Hayden delighted Sussex fans on Tuesday when she released three photos of Meghan's book on Twitter (opens in new tab). Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was in the 8th grade when she wrote "A Face Without Freckles..." Did you know that she wrote a book titled "Is a Night Without Stars" in 8th grade? She extolled the wonders of freckles in pictures and poetry." Megan submitted this work to @CopyrightOffice in 1996.

Hayden shared a page from the book with a sweet drawing of a girl with freckles." Some people think freckles are weird / I don't happen to think so / But because if I didn't have freckles / I wouldn't really be me!!!" Megan's poem goes.

The book also includes a biography page on the author, with an adorable photo of a teenage Meghan.

"Meghan Markle currently attends Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles, California, where she enjoys watching television, spending time with friends, and participating in musical comedies.

"Megan wrote this book as a school project in eighth grade and now hopes to continue writing throughout high school," the bio continues. "She would like to take this opportunity to thank her 'mom' and 'dad' for all the time and effort they put into supporting her." Megan! Please publish this book! I guarantee it will be a bestseller.
