Royal family discussed Archie's skin color "several times," royal expert claims
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (opens in new tab) shocked many royal fans when, in a roundtable interview with Oprah Winfrey (opens in new tab), they revealed instances of racism they had experienced during their royal years. Particularly upsetting was the claim that an unnamed member of the royal family had a conversation with Harry in which he expressed concern about the color of the couple's then-unborn son.
Now, however, royal correspondent and author Omid Scobie (opens in new tab) (who co-authored Finding Freedom (opens in new tab) about the Sussexes' decision to leave the royal family and is described by The Sun as the couple's "favorite reporter"), has revealed that Archie's birth The Sun's "Sun" (which the Sun describes as the couple's "favorite reporter") has added another shocker by claiming that there were in fact multiple conversations about Archie's skin color leading up to his birth.
According to The Sun (opens in new tab), Scobie claims that the royal family actually had "multiple" conversations about the topic, and that when Harry and Meghan complained about the discussions that took place, members of The Firm were "brusque" and that it was a They claim that it was a "much bigger issue" involving them.
"There was a conversation where someone in the royal family shared concerns about Archie's skin color that had a huge impact on them," Scobie reportedly said at a Foreign Press Association event in London on Friday. "It was one conversation for Harry, and it turns out it was one conversation for Meghan, who would have been involved in the conversation that followed. So it becomes a bigger issue because you start to feel that it's not just this person's problem, it's other people's as well."
When asked by someone in the audience if he knew the identity of the royal who first raised concerns about Archie's skin color, Scobee seemed to avoid comment, saying only, "Pass."
