Queen Elizabeth cuts the cake with a ceremonial sword.

Queen Elizabeth II (opens in new tab) cuts the cake as she pleases, as she pleases.

On Friday, Queen Elizabeth (opens in new tab) attended a reception with volunteers involved in organizing next year's Platinum Jubilee, which will celebrate the 70th anniversary of her reign. Her daughter-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall (opens in new tab), and granddaughter-in-law, Kate Middleton (opens in new tab), also attended.

She was also joined by a huge celebration cake, which she decided to cut with a ceremonial sword. And when someone in the audience suggested that the sword should not be used as a cake knife, she hilariously dismissed it. [According to People (opens in new tab), when politely reminded that the knife was provided for cutting the cake, she said. 'This is even more unusual.'

This comment, and of course cutting the cake with a sword, made Camilla (opens in new tab), Kate (opens in new tab), and others in the audience laugh.

After helping Camilla cut the cake, the queen added, "It looks so delicious."

In the end, the queen agreed to use a knife to continue cutting the cake, but we personally are fans of swords.
