Prince Harry was apparently "distressed" by Prince Charles after Princess Diana's death.

Prince Harry (open in new tab) is raising his child in a different way than he was raised, at least in some ways.

The 36-year-old royal has become increasingly open about his struggles with mental health in recent years and was especially candid during a recent appearance on AppleTV+'s The Me You Can't See with Oprah Winfrey (opens in new tab).

In his conversation with Oprah, Harry discussed his father Prince Charles' (opens in new tab) reaction after the death of his mother Princess Diana (opens in new tab). According to Harry, Prince Charles was not very open emotionally, which followed a pattern from his own youth. Harry expressed, however, that he did not agree with the way the situation was handled.

"My father used to say to William and me when I was younger. 'That doesn't make sense. Just because I suffered doesn't mean that my children should have to suffer.'

Harry further stated that he had a different philosophy as a parent and would deal differently with his own children, 2-year-old Archie (opens in new tab) and newborn Lilibet (opens in new tab).

"If I suffered, I do everything I can to make it right for my children, no matter what negative experiences I had," Harry said.
