Royal Family 'delighted' with birth of Meghan and Harry's daughter

The Royal Family has issued a statement congratulating Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the birth of their second child (opens in new tab), a baby girl named Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor (opens in new tab). Royal Reporter Rebecca English delivered the statement via Twitter:

"In response to today's happy news, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said: The Queen, Prince of Wales & Dutchess of Cornwall, Duke & Dutchess of Cambridge are delighted to receive the news of the birth of a daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex."

At press time, the royal Twitter account @RoyalFamily (which typically relays messages from the Queen) and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Twitter account @KensingtonRoyal had not posted statements to their respective sources.

Meghan and Harry announced today the birth of their baby girl on June 4, making Archie, 2, officially a big brother. Following the Sussex couple's joint interview with Oprah (opens in new tab), it remains to be seen if the Sussexes will travel to England to meet the Queen and the rest of the royal family, as things are reportedly tense (opens in new tab) behind the scenes.

Whatever the couple decides, we wish the Sussexes the best of luck at this exciting time!
