Queen Elizabeth is selling beer and gin.

Queen Elizabeth will toast this summer with a new twist: beer and gin. The British monarch now sells a variety of alcoholic beverages both on the Royal Collection store site and in the Sandringham Palace gift store.

The beer is the palace's latest venture, which was just confirmed this week. Buckingham Palace recently told People (opens in new tab) that Queen Elizabeth has approved the sale of various beers. The beverages will be brewed from plants grown at the monarch's Sandringham Estate (open in new tab) in Norfolk. Sandringham's Twitter account announced the launch, referring to the beer as a Father's Day gift.

"With Father's Day just around the corner, we thought what better way to celebrate than with our new Sandringham beer. Sandringham Farms has developed an IPA and a bitter from organic knurled barley grown on their extensive farm and now available at the Sandringham Shop."

Two types of beer are offered. A cold-filtered English "bitter" beer and a golden IPA, which the Sandringham gift store describes as a "unique natural." The beer is produced by Bersham Brewery, also in Norfolk, and sells for $5.50 a bottle.

The Queen has also recently added another product to her repertoire of alcoholic beverages. The Royal Collection Trust, a division of the Royal Family, has launched Sloe Gin, an English red liquor made from gin and sloe (a red fruit similar to plum). According to the Royal Collection Trust, in the new drink, hand-picked whole sloe berries are steeped in Buckingham Palace gin, giving sloe gin a "unique and intense fruitiness."

Buckingham Palace began producing and selling its own gin in 2020. The drink is made from plants found in the palace gardens, including lemon verbena, hawthorn berries, bay leaves, and mulberry leaves. The new gin has been joined by sloe berries and is now available in the Royal Collection Shop (opens in new tab).

The Trust recommends enjoying sloe gin with a sloe royale: 25 ml of Buckingham Palace sloe gin in a flute glass, pour champagne or sparkling wine and garnish with fresh berries or orange peel.
