Tom Bradby says Prince Harry and Prince William have been arguing for "the past year and a half."
Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship (opens in new tab) seemed to take a major hit when Harry and his wife Meghan Markle (opens in new tab) sat down for a TV interview with Oprah Winfrey (opens in new tab), but the roots of their problems reportedly much deeper.
According to ITV News journalist Tom Bradby (opens in new tab), Harry and Williams' relationship (opens in new tab) changed over time and took more than a year to reach the acrimonious state it is now.
"It used to be very straightforward, because there was no arguing and life was simple," Bradby explained to The Times (from The Sun (open in new tab)).
"And over the last year and a half, we've gradually fallen into some really difficult things, both personally and publicly."
Bradby had a close relationship with both Harry and William (open in new tab) for many years and was the journalist who conducted the famous candid interview Harry and Meghan did during their royal tour of Africa in 2019 (open in new tab).
In that interview, Harry publicly admitted that he and William were "going our separate ways," and Meghan opened up for the first time about her struggles in the royal family, even confirming that she was not "okay" and that not many people had even asked if she was since becoming royal.
Bradby opened up about this famous interview and explained that while it was not his intention to focus on mental health and the Sussexes' (open in new tab) emotional state, when he met Harry and Meghan (open in new tab) they seemed to be suffering He explained that he could sense that they were. As a result, Bradby said the direction of the interview was "obviously influenced by my own experiences, and I didn't think they were in great shape.
"I don't regret having done so. If I felt the same way, I might change my approach."
