Kate Middleton, Prince William, and the Queen wish Archie a happy 2nd birthday

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, son of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, turns two today! The Sussexes will likely release a photo or video of Archie later today as the West Coast wakes up (remember last year's adorable Duck?)! Remember the bunny (opens in new tab) birthday video (opens in new tab)? Meanwhile in the UK, Kate Middleton, Prince William, the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles have taken to social media to extend birthday wishes to Archie.

Kate and William, under their new Instagram handle @dukeandduchessofcambridge, shared a family photo from Archie's 2019 christening, with the caption "Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today." with the caption, "I'm so happy for you. In the photo, baby Archie sits on Meghan's lap, Harry sits beside him, and Camilla and Kate sit on either side of their new parents. Prince Charles, Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, Princess Diana's sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and William stand behind them.

The Queen congratulated her great-grandchildren on their birthday via her official Instagram account @theroyalfamily." Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a happy second birthday," the post read, along with photos of Meghan, Harry, and Archie taken shortly after his birth.

Meanwhile, Charles and Camilla shared a black and white photo of Charles, Harry, and Archie. They captioned the photo, "Happy birthday, Archie, who turns two today."

The royal family's treatment of Archie and Meghan became a central topic in the Sussex couple's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year (opens in new tab), in which Meghan recounted her horrific experience of racism (opens in new tab). Meghan recalled that she feared for Archie's safety when she was informed that he would not be given the title. The Duchess of Sussex recalled, "The first person of color in this family will not be given the same title as the other grandchildren."

Princess Meghan further revealed that members of the royal family had expressed "concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie's] skin [opens in new tab] might be at birth." She added, "It was communicated to me by Harry. It's a conversation my family had with him," she added. The Sussexes did not name the royals who made the racist remarks, but Winfrey later confirmed that "neither his grandmother nor his grandfather (i.e., the Queen and Prince Philip) were part of these conversations."
