While the Internet has been abuzz about the upcoming film "House of Gucci" since the first photos of Lady Gaga and Adam Driver (open in new tab) were released last month, the Gucci family itself is not so pleased. The great-grandchildren of Guccio Gucci, the founder of the Maison, have appealed to director Ridley Scott to honor the legacy of the legendary fashion family.

The House of Gucci centers on the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci, played by Adam Driver, at the behest of his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, played by Lady Gaga. Maurizio was Guccio's grandson and at one time the head of the Gucci fashion house.

Patrizia Gucci, Maurizio's second cousin, told the Associated Press that the Gucci family is "really disappointed" in the upcoming film. They are stealing the family's identity in order to increase revenue for the Hollywood system, to make a profit," Patrizia said. 'We as a family have an identity, we have privacy. We can talk about anything, but there are boundaries that must not be crossed."

Patrizia tried to contact Scott's producing partner and wife Giannina Fasio about the film, but her inquiries went unanswered, according to the Associated Press Fasio told the Associated Press that in the early 2000s, another Gucci-centric project about it to other members of the Gucci family, but it never materialized. Patrizia said the family will watch the film before deciding what to do next, but Ridley Scott's production company did not respond to a request for comment.
