Princess Eugenie (opens in new tab) and husband Jack Brooksbank (opens in new tab) revealed their son's name (opens in new tab): August Philip Hawk Brooksbank.

The couple took to Instagram Saturday morning to share the baby August's name and the first portrait showing his face. According to the post, the photo was taken by the couple's midwife.

In the caption of the post, Eugenie revealed her name and thanked her followers for their support and congratulations. She wrote:

"We wanted to introduce August Philip Hawk Brooksbank ... ?

Thank you for all the wonderful messages. Our hearts are filled with love for this little human being and words cannot express it. We are excited to share these photos with you

? by our wonderful midwives. Thank you to all the wonderful and indispensable workers, including the midwife who came to discharge our baby boy."

In her Instagram Story post, Eugenie explained the sweet meaning behind August's name and why she and Jack are sharing the name (and his photo) with the world today:

"On the weekend of his grandfather's birthday, thinking of my grandfather and our little boy," Eugenie wrote in her post, which also included one of the photos taken by her midwife. 'This little boy is named after his great-grandfather and his great-x-five grandfathers. August Philip Hawke Brooksbank."

Eugenie's son was born earlier this month, on February 9, Buckingham Palace confirmed in an official birth announcement (opens in new tab) in August.

"Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered today, February 9, 2021, at 0:85 a.m. at Portland Hospital. Jack Brooksbank was present. The baby weighs 8 pounds 1 ounce. The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and George Brooksbank and his wife are delighted to receive this news. She is the first child of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, the first grandchild of the Duke and Duchess of York and Sarah York, and the ninth great-grandchild for the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh. Her Royal Highness and her children are in good health".

British bookmakers had long predicted that Eugenie would name her son after her grandfather, Prince Philip (opens in new tab).
