See Doug Emhoff's reaction when he learned that Kamala Harris had Googled him before they met.

It's finally inauguration week! After the Capitol riots on January 6, and with COVID-19 still very much present in the U.S., the inaugurations of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris (opens in new tab) are going to be much more scaled-down (opens in new tab) than usual, with city Security has been beefed up in many places (opens in new tab). [One of the things that is going on is how proud Doug Emhoff (opens in new tab) is of his wife, who will make history (opens in new tab) when she is sworn in as vice president on Wednesday. in an interview with Jane Pauley that aired on CBS Sunday Morning, Emhoff's joy for his wife was palpable. The joy he felt for his wife was palpable. But there was one moment in particular in which he completely stole the show.

At the beginning of the interview, Pauly (Emhoff told me to just call him "Doug") asked the couple about their courtship, which began in 2013 and ended in marriage in 2014." When you get the first friend who says, "There's a guy," maybe your friend always did this, but: "There's a guy. Don't Google him!" . You totally googled him," Paulie asks. Harris bursts out laughing, and Emhoff looks around, stunned. 'Whoa, that's an exposé!' He says.

"I've never been asked that before. Yes, I have!" Harris admits. She looks over at her husband, who still looks a little shocked.

"Wow, okay," he says. Harris says as she touches her husband's arm." That's an interesting question!"

Watch the clip here:

After a laugh at Paulie's sly question, the couple told the story of the first time they spoke. 'One of my buddies was in town and we went to see a Laker game. We had a couple of beers and I told him about it. I said, 'What do you think? He said, 'Text her! ' And we sat down in the stands. So, you know, we're sitting in the stands and I'm thinking about this text. Awkward! I'm texting you.

"You guys composed this together?" Harris asks.

"Yes," Emhoff replies, "I did." So that's my revelation." He says they exchanged emails, and Harris, despite the fact that she is a Golden State Warriors fan, says, "Go Lakers!" to which she replied.

The next morning, Emhoff called and left a voicemail saying, "This is ridiculous." Years later, Harris saved that voicemail and plays it every year on their wedding anniversary. I thought I would never hear back from her again, ......." Emhoff says.

"But she was cute anyway," Harris concludes.

Emhoff has two children, Cole and Ella, who are in their early 20s and call her "Momala (open in new tab)."

When we went to see them for Election Day, it really hit me, like, "Whoa," Ella told the New York Times (opens in new tab) in an interview published today. "Now I see them much differently. There are more of them. The idea of sharing my parents with the world is kind of insane. Because you can share all these wonderful things.
