Rare footage of Princess Diana casually playing the piano as she charmed onlookers on her Australian tour.

Princess Diana (opens in new tab) was a woman of many talents. Need proof of that? How about this rare video, unearthed from her 1988 tour of Australia, which has been making the rounds on the Internet.

In this clip, she and Prince Charles (opens in new tab) visit the Music College at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia. Charles agrees and plays a small cello, and it is lovely to see an adult playing the instrument he played as a child.

And then the magic happens. Diana (open in new tab), dressed in a stunning black and white striped suit and a big white hat, sits down at the piano and begins to play Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 as if nothing had happened.

"She was clearly embarrassed by her musical debut and almost ran away," explains the announcer in the old footage. Diana was not the only one who was embarrassed, for she had studied piano as a student and was regarded as an excellent pianist.
