Beyoncé Partners with NAACP to Provide Pandemic Housing Relief

Beyonce, the reigning Eternal Queen, in partnership with her charity BeyGOOD and the NAACP, will provide $5,000 grants to people facing eviction or foreclosure during the COVID-19 pandemic. 100 families or individuals will each receive up to $5, 000. Applications for the first round of grants, which will provide up to $5,000 each to 100 families or individuals, will open on Thursday, January 7 and close on January 21.

Beyonce announced the initiative on BeyGOOD's Instagram account in December, saying, "With so many people stressing over what to do next regarding housing this holiday season, we are proud to share some GOOD news. Beyonce is offering $5,000 grants to individuals and families facing foreclosure or eviction"

In a statement on the Housing Relief Grant application page (opens in new tab), the NAACP said, "The NAACP is committed to helping African Americans maintain their wealth and economic stability during this unprecedented time of COVID-19...In partnership with BeyGOOD, the NAACP is providing $5,000 grants to individuals and families facing eviction or We are honored to provide financial assistance to families and individuals facing foreclosure, and the BeyGOOD Impact Fund will provide 100 grants of up to $5,000 each to families who are behind on their mortgage or rent payments." The housing relief initiative is the latest of several charitable initiatives Beyoncé has launched during the pandemic. in May, BeyGOOD partnered with Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, to launch a Houston, to provide mobile COVID-19 testing (opens in new tab). And in July, BeyGOOD, also in partnership with the NAACP, announced the Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund (opens in new tab), which will provide $10,000 monthly grants to black-owned businesses that have been hit financially in 2020.
