Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reflect on 2020 with Archewell Audio Holiday Special
While many of us are counting down the days, hours, and seconds until this abominable year is over, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have given us one very good reason to look back on 2020 a little longer. The couple just released their first Archewell Audio holiday special, co-produced with Gimlet, from their multi-year partnership with Spotify. In the special, the Sussexes candidly discuss their experiences over the past year and share their hopes for a bright 2021.
Megan and Harry also (with a deep breath) share stories of notable guests including: Stacey Abrams, Naomi Osaka, Rachel Cagle, Elton John, Tyler Perry, Christina Adane, Poet George, Jose Andres, Hussain Manawar, Brené Brown, Deepak Chopra, Matt Hague, and James Corden. While introducing the guests, Megan explained, "We thought, what if we could bring together some of the people who inspire us, people we admire, and hear their thoughts on what they have learned from 2020."
At the beginning of the podcast, Megan and Harry also thank those working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and offer their thoughts to those who experienced loss in 2020." We are glad you are here, and we hope you are as well. As you know, it has been a year. And we want to honor the compassion and kindness that helped so many people get through it," Harry said. Meghan continued, "And at the same time, we salute those who have experienced anxiety and unimaginable loss. Our thoughts are with you all, especially during this holiday season."
"We also want to thank the sacrifices of medical professionals, front-line service workers, and many others," says Meghan. Harry added, "As we end this year and look to the future, ...... How important it is to take care of each other, and even when it is physically impossible to do so: ...... He adds, "Let us hold on to the lessons we have learned about how meaningful our connections are.
At the end of the podcast, Megan delivers a hopeful message to listeners: "No matter what challenges life throws at you, believe us when we say love will prevail." The Sussexes then introduce a song that is especially meaningful to them both: This Little Light of Mine, which we performed at the very end of our wedding ...... played as we were walking down the church steps," Megan says." This is the song we wanted to play as we started our life together. As we all know, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that..."
"The message of this song is one we hold very dear," Harry concludes. It's about using the power that each of us has to make this world a better place."
