Meghan Markle and Prince Harry turn Archie's iconic beanie into a force for good
Remember this time last year when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released an Instagram video looking back on 2019 and delivered us the iconic image of Harry holding baby Archie and both wrapped up in a beanie:
Archie's adorable It turns out that the bobble beanie is the work of the New Zealand social enterprise Make Give Live (opens in new tab). The organization operates a "buy one, give one" policy where for every beanie sold, another is donated to someone in need in New Zealand.
After Archie wore the beanie, Make Give Live experienced the "Archie Effect." The company then celebrated the little royal's first birthday in May. Make Give Live published a photo of Archie wearing a beanie on Instagram (opens in new tab)." This special photo made a huge difference to us and our entire community!"
Princess Meghan and Harry added to the impact of Archie's beanie by purchasing 100 Make Give Live beanies and donating them to children in need throughout New Zealand. Make Give Live said on Instagram that they helped New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern get in touch with the Sussexes, and the couple responded with a large donation.
"Meghan and Harry were generous with gifts that will keep on giving long after this Christmas. Merry Christmas and thank you for shining a light on our work with this image that captured the hearts of people around the world," Make Give Live wrote on Instagram. [We are so happy that they shared our values and ordered 100 beanies to donate to Archie's Kiwi friends (underprivileged children in NZ)." They told us they wanted to help our members continue to enjoy creating, connecting and supporting each other, which has never been more important than now. Lovely!
