Kate Middleton intends to make significant changes to royal protocol when she becomes queen

Kate Middleton (opens in new tab) is a picture-perfect royal-by-marriage (opens in new tab) and has proven that she can follow any royal rule that is thrown at her. But just because she is good at following the sometime royal rules (opens in new tab) does not mean that she agrees with all of them. In fact, some royal experts believe that when her husband Prince William (opens in new tab) becomes king, she may make some very significant changes to the way things work within the royal family.

When Will ascends to the throne (opens in new tab), Kate will also be elevated to a new royal title (opens in new tab): queen consort. And with that new title comes new power to make changes. Of course, becoming queen means a lot of responsibility, but no one doubts that Kate is ready for it.

"Kate has blossomed as the long-awaited queen before everyone's eyes," one royal source told Us Weekly (opens in new tab). The royal family could not be more pleased."

So what might Kate want to change about the way the royal family rules when she is in charge?" she is apparently focused on becoming more approachable to the public, which is what her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana (opens in new tab), aka " Princess of the People (opens in new tab)", from which she takes great inspiration.

"If Kate becomes queen [of the people], she may change some of the outdated royal rules," the source explained, adding that Kate also wants to spend more time meeting and talking with the public at official events." She is also very present on social media and has become accustomed to TV interviews and virtual chats. She hopes to continue that in the future."

We will have to wait and see what specific rules might be changed when Kate gets that opportunity.
