Elliott Page Thanks Fans for Support in Coming Out as Trans
Last night, actor Elliott Page thanked fans for the support he has received since coming out as trans (opens in new tab).
Page, who posted a selfie of himself wearing a black hoodie, black beanie, and silver-framed glasses, wrote, "Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Your love and support is the greatest gift. Stay safe. For each other. The Umbrella Academy star also introduced TranSanta (opens in new tab), an organization that supports trans youth during the vacations, and Trans Lifeline, which provides support and a crisis hotline for trans people in need. Paige concluded her message with "See you in 2021, Xoxo Elliot."
The 33-year-old star, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in the 2007 film Juno, made their gender identity public earlier this month through an announcement also posted on Instagram.
"Friends, I want to share that I am trans and my pronoun is he/she and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be able to write this." To be here. That I have arrived at this place in my life.
"I feel overwhelming gratitude for all the wonderful people who have supported me on this journey. I can't express how wonderful it is that I was finally able to love myself enough to pursue my authentic self. I have been endlessly inspired by so many people in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, generosity, and constant efforts to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I offer all the support I can and will continue to work for a more loving and equal society."
