Taylor Swift Denies "Woodvale" Surprise Album Rumors

Swift fans, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it turns out that Taylor Swift will not be releasing a third surprise album titled "woodvale (open in new tab)" after all. The rumor started when a fan spotted the word "woodvale" hidden in Folklore's album art, and it gained steam when Swift announced her second surprise album, evermore, last week, but alas, Swift announced Monday night that she would be Jimmy Kimmel Live! and revealed that the hidden word was actually just a mistake.

"Basically, when I was working on my album Folklore, which was released in July, I was afraid to reveal the title of the album, even to my closest teammates and management. I didn't tell anyone the title of the album before it was released," Swift said, Variety reported. (Open in new tab) "I came up with a fake code name that had the same number of letters as folklore, picked a random name, and chose 'woodvale.'" I wanted to see how 'woodvale' would look on the album cover, and I made a mock-up." I actually decided, "I don't want a title on the album cover," and forgot to remove the fake code name from one of them." Well, that's a very satisfying and very disappointing explanation!

In fact, Swift also used a fake codename on her latest album, evermore, which may have caused another round of fan speculation. "Evermore had a codename and it was 'November,'" Swift said. 'But I remembered to take that name off the album cover mockup before I released it this time, so lesson learned.'
