Kate Middleton and Prince William begin first ever royal train tour
Kate Middleton and Prince William (opens in new tab) set off on a tour of the United Kingdom aboard the legendary Royal Train, which only the highest echelons of the royal family are allowed to ride. In fact, according to People (opens in new tab), this is the first time the Cambridges have traveled together on the Royal Train.
As People (opens in new tab) reports, Kate and William will stop in towns and cities in England, Scotland, and Wales, stopping overnight on the train to thank those working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. They will meet with "frontline workers, volunteers, nursing home staff, teachers, school children, and young people," according to the magazine. [A spokesman for the Cambridges told People, "The Duke and Duchess are very much looking forward to highlighting the wonderful work that has been done throughout the country throughout this difficult year and to expressing their gratitude on behalf of the nation to all those who support their local communities before the Christmas vacation I am looking forward to working with them."
Kate and William began their tour at London's Euston Station, where they met transit officials and enjoyed a performance of Shakin' Stevens' "Merry Christmas Everyone" (watch Kate dance in the video above). William spoke with Alero Abbey, Area Manager for Transport for London. Suddenly, we all know what you are doing and that you are doing a really good job."
[6Kate also left a congratulatory message on the station's service information board, which William signed. 'Thank you to all the transit employees who have kept our country moving through this difficult year. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!" And.
