Prince Harry supported by Prince Charles and Prince William after Meghan Markle's miscarriage
Earlier this week, Meghan Markle (opens in new tab) penned an incredibly candid and powerful op-ed in the New York Times about her experience with pregnancy loss. In it, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about her summer miscarriage (opens in new tab) and told a deeply personal story about the experience, including the moment she realized she had lost her second child and what it was like to watch her husband Prince Harry (opens in new tab) process the news.
"Hours later, I lay in my hospital bed, holding my husband's hand," Meghan wrote of the day of her pregnancy miscarriage.
"I felt the touch of his palm and kissed his knuckles, both of us wet with tears."
The royal family declined to release a formal statement about Meghan's essay or the loss she and Harry suffered earlier this year, but several royal sources shared the Sussex family's (opens in new tab) grief and support for Harry and Meghan (opens in new tab) from afar confirmed the news.
According to the Mirror (opens in new tab), "Of course, there is much understandable grief in the family," a palace official said.
Harry and his brother Prince William (open in new tab) have long been rumored to be feuding (open in new tab), but reports suggest that the brothers have fallen out following the loss of Meghan's pregnancy.
"In the dark days that followed, Harry is understood to have been supported by his brother William and father Prince Charles," the Sun (opens in new tab) reported.
