Queen imitates Ryan Reynolds and launches gin

If you're a fan of the Royal Family and booze, today is your lucky day. Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Estate (opens in new tab) (a country house in Norfolk where the entire royal family usually gathers at Christmas (opens in new tab)-at least when the world is not in the midst of a global pandemic (opens in new tab)) has launched its own gin (opens in new tab). The brand is not only from the Queen's country estate, but is actually made with ingredients from the Queen's garden.

Specifically, according to People (opens in new tab), the gin contains Sharon fruit grown in the Walled Garden, "in a protected wall at the end of a glass house built with the prize money from Edward VII's famous racehorse Persimmon," and on the estate myrtle leaves grown on the property.

Being a high quality gin with a royal warrant, it is no surprise that it is produced in small quantities. This gin costs $67 a bottle (opens in new tab), but unfortunately (at least for now) is only available in the UK.

This is not the first time the Queen has participated in the gin game. The Queen is a well-known fan of gin (her signature cocktail is gin and Dubonnet with lemon slices, which she is said to drink daily (opens in new tab)), and over the summer Buckingham Palace launched a gin made with ingredients grown in the Queen's London home.

Now, if you'll excuse me for a moment, the Queen and Ryan Reynolds (open in new tab) are chatting at a celebrity gin-making convention, arguing about whether Aviation Gin (open in new tab) or Sandringham Gin is better, agreeing on a draw and becoming best friends. I like to imagine that. Yes, that's my plan for the day.
