Princess Diana's brother wants "The Crown" to warn viewers
[Princess Diana's brother, Count Charles Spencer (opens in new tab), is one of the biggest critics. Prince Charles has spoken out against Netflix programming on numerous occasions, most recently during an appearance on the British daytime TV show Lorraine on Wednesday."I think it would help 'The Crown' immensely if at the beginning of each episode it said, 'This is not true, but it is based on some real events,'" Charles said, according to Hello! (open in new tab). "That way, everyone would understand that it is drama for drama's sake. would understand that it's drama for drama's sake, and obviously Netflix wants to make a lot of money.
Charles pointed out one aspect of "The Crown" that he found particularly objectionable, and that is the portrayal of his grandmother, Baroness Fermoy, as a stern and emotionless figure. What I found very annoying in this episode of The Crown was that my Scottish grandmother was portrayed in a particularly unpleasant way. [My grandmother, sadly long gone,] still has a daughter and 10 grandchildren," Charles added. 'Is it fair that people should be destroyed in such a way?'
